Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has declared automatic jobs for doctors and nurses that are interested in working in the state.
He made this assertion Tuesday, when he visited the Maryam Sani Abacha Maternal Hospital in Damaturu.
Gaidam directed the state Head of Service, Alhaji Dauda Yahaya to open the door of employment to interested medical personnel.
He said in realization of this, the state government had requested for medical personnel from the University of Maiduguri in order to meet the health care need of the people.
In another development, the Governor also disclosed that his administration was considering selling the state’s 3-Star Hotel which has been under construction since 2003.
Gaidam disclosed this during an unscheduled visit to the construction site of the hotel.
He said government would soon complete the hotel and dispose it or hand it over to Yobe State University as staff accommodation.
The Governor lamented the poor maintenance culture of government officials saying the hotel had been in existence for many years but could neither pay staff salary, nor maintain the structure, let alone yield revenue for government.
He then directed the state commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Mohammed Dakasku to initiate the process of inviting experts to make an assessment of completing the project before the year end.
