5 Things You probably Didn't Know About Your Fingers

1.The five digits of the finger are referred to as:


  • Thumb
  • Index Finger
  • Middle Finger
  • Ring Finger  and 
  • Little finger or pinky


2. The fingers do not contain muscles (other than erector pili).



3. The muscles that move the finger joints are in the palm and forearm.


4. Aside from the genitals, the finger tips posseses at the highest concentration of touch receptor, making them extremely sensitive to temperature, pressure, vibration, texture and moisture.

5. A 2013 study found that wrinkled fingertips provided better handling of wet objects, but gave no advantage to the handling of dry objects.
